Hochiki Model Z787 is an Intrinsically Safe Zener diode barrier specifically designed for use in conventional fire detection systems in hazardous areas.

  • Self-Safe Design:Certified 'ia' for all zones and 'IIC' for explosive atmospheres.
  • Zone Supply:It is designed to receive power from the area it protects.
  • Zener-Diode Barrier:Each zone contains two-stage pulse-tested Zener or forward-junction diodes.
  • Termination Resistance:It includes a 'fault-free' termination resistor to limit current.
  • Error Protection:In case of an electrical fault in the safe area, diodes limit the voltage that can reach the hazardous area, and the resistor limits the current.
  • Insurance Protection:Fusions protect diodes from excessive currents.
  • Redundancy:Two-stage voltage limiting ensures constant safety even if one stage fails.
  • No Active Current Limiting Circuits:It relies on Zener or forward-junction diodes to limit voltage without active current limiting circuits.
